Kutubiyya Arch Study

Kutubiyya Arch Study

A water-colour and gouache rendering of the carved-stucco arch decoration on Marrakech’s 12th-century Kutubiyya Mosque. Warm sand and terracotta washes echo the mosque’s stone, while concentric circles, scalloped palmettes and split-leaf scrolls fill the horseshoe fringe. Faint pencil grids reveal the geometric planning that lies behind Maghrebi (Moorish) stucco work, turning this famous Moroccan motif into a precise architectural study.
