Andalusian 12-Point Rosette

Andalusian 12-Point Rosette

This ink drawing echoes the geometric tilework of 14th-century Nasrid Granada. A 12-point rosette sits at the centre, surrounded by a lattice of interlocking eight-point stars (khatim). Fine stippling gives the pattern depth, while two stylised songbirds sweep across the grid, softening the strict Moorish geometry and hinting at the harmony between nature and Islamic ornament.
