32-Point Shamsa (Sunburst)

Pencil study of a 32-point shamsa (sunburst) built with compass-and-straightedge geometry typical of 16th-century Safavid tilework. The star radiates through a web of small kites and rhombi, all held inside a knot-work border. Two graceful songbirds slip over the frame, their ribbon-like tails echoing the guiding circles still visible beneath the lines, softening the precise Islamic pattern with a hint of life.
