10-Point Girih Interlace

10-Point Girih Interlace

This pencil study follows the girih strapwork used on Seljuk and Timurid architecture in Iran and Central Asia (11th – 16th c.). A 10-point star anchors the centre, while broad, interlaced bands weave through pentagons and rhombi to create an endless knot. Faint compass circles and guide lines remain on the page, revealing the precise geometric planning behind the flowing lattice.
