Maghrebi 12-Point Lantern

Maghrebi 12-Point Lantern

Laser-cut from warm wood, this free-standing lantern draws on Moroccan and Andalusian mashrabiya craft. Each panel is pierced with a repeating 12-point star lattice—an arrangement favoured in Maghrebi stucco and cedar screens since the 13th century. The domed crown shifts to a finer arabesque scroll inspired by Mamluk mosque lamps. Once lit, the cut-outs project a tapestry of twelve-point stars across surrounding walls, recalling the patterned glow of lantern-lit riads.
